The Meaning of Life explained by a cheese maggot
‘Tani draws laughter from the audience from the off with his appearance and witty asides’
Performance Art & Theatre News and Reviews
Casu Martzu is a surreal and comic journey into a forbidden world of tradition, memory, and taste.
Inspired by the legendary Sardinian cheese inhabited by live larvae, the performance unfolds as a
playful and grotesque descent into identity, roots, and belonging.
Through clowning and live music, Simone Tani and Marco Riola transform Sardinian culture into
a universal theatrical language — raw, mischievous, and deeply human. A feast for the senses,
not for the faint-hearted.
“Fantastic clowning,
music and mayhem.”
Eli Randle
Artistic Director – Unity Theatre Liverpool
“Deliciously funny, clowning at its finest.”
